Urban Atelier is an urban planning collaborative founded in 2021 specializing in zoning, land use codes and comprehensive plans. Sky Tallman will work as an independent consultant, or, for complex projects, will assemble multi-disciplinary teams of independent planners and engineers to provide clients with innovative and avant garde planning solutions.
Land use codes are the operating principles out of which urban form and character arise. To achieve a desired built environment, the first step is to align the code with land use goals with community values and vision. Urban Atelier will help you develop land use codes that are adaptive, resilient and responsive to current and changing conditions.
Complex projects will be approached with teams of independent planners, architects, engineers. Urban Atelier not only offers full-service planning services, we back up our work with follow-up studies six to eighteen months after project completion, which will include revised recommendations to improve upon any aspect of completed work.

Functional Zoning — A Paradigm Shift
Functional zoning presents a new paradigm for land use that offers an adaptive, resilient approach to address the urgent need for housing and guide the long-term development of cities along self-organizing principles.
